The essential oil of Gardenia jasminoides was extracted through hydro-distillation. Its chemical composition was analyzed using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS), and compound identification was supported by Kovats Index (KI) values. The major constituents of the essential oil were identified as linalool, ?-farnesene, (Z)-3-hexenyl tiglate, and trans-?-ocimene.
The essential oil of Gardenia jasminoides exhibited notable antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Escherichia coli. In addition, the oil demonstrated strong antioxidant potential, with a TEAC value of 2.56 mg Trolox/ml and a FRAP value of 7.27 mg Fe²?/ml.
