Ocimum sanctum L. commonly known as Tulsi is an erect herbaceus, much-branched, softy, hairy annual, 30-75 cm high herb found throughout India, ascending up to 1,800 m in the Himalayas and in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The plant is held sacred by Hindus all over India and commonly cultivated in gardens, court-yards and temples.
