:Introduction

Pelargonium citronellum, commonly referred to as citronella pelargonium, is a bushy, evergreen shrub native to South Africa and is notable for its intense lemon-like fragrance. The plant bears deeply lobed, aromatic leaves that emit a strong citronella scent when crushed, a characteristic that has led to its widespread use as a natural mosquito repellent as well as in potpourri preparations. In addition to its aromatic applications, the leaves are occasionally employed to impart flavor to herbal teas and desserts. The species typically flowers during spring and summer, producing attractive pink to purplish blossoms that enhance its ornamental value.
