Thymus caramanicus Jalas, known in Persian as avishan kermani, is among the fourteen Thymus species that occur naturally across various regions of Iran. In traditional Iranian medicine, its leaves are valued for their therapeutic applications in relieving rheumatism and treating skin infections, as well as for their antibacterial activity. The aerial parts of the plant are also widely used as a culinary herb in local dishes.
