Semenovia frigida (Apiaceae) is an aromatic perennial herb widely distributed in mountainous regions. Like many members of the Apiaceae family, it produces essential oils rich in bioactive terpenes that contribute to its characteristic fragrance and medicinal value
The essential oil of Semenovia frigida was extracted from aerial parts by hydrodistillation, yielding 0.3% (v/w). GC–MS analysis revealed 41 constituents, accounting for 98.9% of the total oil composition. The dominant compounds were germacrene D (19.1%), ?-pinene (10.9%), ?-pinene (8.6%), and ?-3-carene (8.4%), highlighting a terpene-rich chemical profile. The oil demonstrated notable antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, supporting its pharmacological potential.
